# financial license

MSB is the abbreviation of Money Services Business, which belongs to FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Bureau, an agency under the U.S. Department of the Treasury) and belongs to the registration and licensing system. All businesses engaged in money services must apply for this license. The reason why the MSB license has a great impact is that it will affect other blockchain investors to apply for this financial license, such as Huobi, Coinbase, and OKEX. All have registered US MSB licenses. In March 2018, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Securities Regulatory Commission clearly emphasized that MSB is a virtual currency exchange and its manager, and must register for an MSB license with FinCEN to engage in digital asset-related businesses.

The MSB license is also a standard license for global digital currency trading institutions. Coinbase, Bitfinex, Poloniex, Huobi.com and other platforms all hold this license to operate
